DEVEN-cog was established in December 2025 with the aim of conducting genuinely multidisciplinary research on human cognition. Our work examines cognition through the interconnected perspectives of development, evolution, and enculturation, bringing together theories and methods from different disciplines to better understand how cognitive abilities emerge, change, and are shaped by cultural experience.

We conduct experimental research with children and adults, study cognition across diverse environments and cultural contexts, use computational cognitive modelling, and consider the evolutionary history of cognition from a theoretical perspective.

The DEVEN-cog website was created by Ayça Aydoğan and Erbil Babacanoğlu. The group’s logo emerged from collaborative discussions involving Gökhan Gönül, Alibey Öztürk, Nergis Bilge Karabulut, Özge Günay, Ayça Aydoğan, Erbil Babacanoğlu, Özgün Özdoğan, and Muharrem Satılmış, and was designed by Öykü Çise Çancı.
